Perry Nuclear Power Plant Docket Nos. 50-440; 50-441 Overpressurization of Isolated Volumes in Drywell Post-LOCA [RDC 123(85)]

Dear Mr. Keppler:

As stated in our letter on this subject dated April 12, 1985, we are submitting this letter to advise you of our progress with regard to Deviation Analysis Report (DAR) 218.

Resolution of the problem concerning the Unit 1 drywell personnel airlock seals and associated inflation system has been completed through the corrective action taken for DAR 147.

We are currently awaiting General Electric's evaluation of the effect of increased pressures on components previously identified which would result from post-LOCA temperature elevations.

Results of testing performed by General Electric on the ADS-SRVs indicate that the ADS-SRVs will operate at the higher pressures achievable during post-LOCA.

We will file our next report upon review and acceptance of the MSIV evaluation and ADS-SRV testing result from General Electric.

Please call if there are any additional questions.

Sincerely, Murray R. Ede n
