Gentlemen:
This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. h. D. Cnane) of this office
during the period April 29 - May 3, 1985, of activities authorized by NRC
Operating License NPF-38 for Waterford Steam Electric Station, Unit 3, and to
the discussion of our findings with Mr. R. P. Barkhurst and other members of
your staff at,the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during the inspection included radiological surveys associated
with reactor power ascension testing, the radiation protection program, and a
review of the circuu: stances surrounding discharges of plant steam generator
blowdown effluents to onsite sediment ponds. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative
records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
These

findings are documented in the enclosed inspection report.
Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were
i
identified.
