EMERGENCY RESPONSE CAPABILITY - CONFORMANCE TO REGULATORY GUIDE 1.97, REV. 3. - INTERIM REPORT AND REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION We have reviewed your submittal of January 16, 1984 on implementation of Regulatory Guide 1.97 as proposed in NUREG-0737, Supplement 1, for Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station, Units 2 and 3. As stated in the attached interim report prepared by our contractor, INEL, and concurred in by the NRC staff, you have provided an explicit commitment on conformance to Regulatory Guide 1.97 except as stated for those items which you have identified as exceptions.

We have concluded that your justification for exceptions to Regulatory Guide-1.97 for certain items are acceptable. However, there are some items for which we ha.'e not been able to conclude that adequate justifications have been provided. These items have been identified in the attached INEL report as unjustified exceptions.

We request that you review the attached interim report and provide responses for those items identified as requiring additional clarifications and/or information.

Your responses should be forwarded to the NRC staff within 60 days from receipt of this letter.

The information requested in this letter affects fewer than 10 respondents.

Therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-411.
