F Cp&L Carolina Power & Light Company SERIAL: NLS-85-207 JUN 141985 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention:

Mr. D. B. Vassallo, Chief Operating Reactors Branch No. 2 Division of Licensing United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NOS.1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-325 & 50-324/ LICENSE N05. DPR-71 & DPR-62 CONTROL ROOM HABITABILITY

Dear Mr. Vassallo:

On May 29,1985, a meeting was held with members of your Staff to discuss Control Room Habitability at Brunswick.

Specifically, discussions were held regarding our proposal to maintain a slight positive pressure in the Control Room during operation of the Control Room Emergency Ventilation System. As a result of this meeting, Carolina Power & Light Company agreed to recalculate dose rates which would be experienced by operators in the Control Room based on the extrapolated flow rates required to achieve the 1/8-inch positive pressure.

The Company has contracted this work and expects to have results available for your review by September 2,1985. Please refer further questions concerning this matter to Mr. Richard J. Fasnacht at (919) 836-7318.

Yours very truly, c=
