Meetings On Emergency Preparedness Criteria For Meteorological Considerations And Emergency Response Facilities The staff has developec a numcer of documents outlining guidance on emergency preparedness matters tnat are ceing implemented at operating plants and plants under construction.

The' staff will conduct meetings to discuss and clarify issues of generic nature with licensees and applicants.

These meetings were announced on March 17, 1981, in the Federal Register (d6-17173) and will cover the areas of meteorology and Emergency Response Facilities.

l Attendance at these meetings is encouraged and registration will be at tne meeting..You and your representatives may attend any of the tnree meetings.

Particulars of the meeting and tne agenca are given in tne encros.ure.

The primary purpose of these meetings are:

(1) to consolidate gutdance on i

meteorological programs relating to emergency preparedness; (.2) outline an acceptable schedule and the regulatory approach for implementing the program; (3) provide a brief description of ongoing NRC activities. pertinent to tne meteorological considerations in emergency preparedness.

In a related area, the criteria document (NUREG-0696) for emergency resconse facilities was

recently puolished; the staff will take the opportunim to review the final report.
