REQUESTS FOR PEACH BOTTOM SITE VISITS BY NRC STAFF In the past several months, Bill Alden of your staff and I have discussed several proposed NRC Peach Pottom site visits.
Since activities at the site have been at their peak this spring, it was mutually agreed to defer the visits in question until Unit 2 start-up is completed. This letter is to formalize our requests for site visits in order to discuss the following:
1.
Discussions of the radiological assessment associated with the Unit 2 pipe replacement program as part of an NRC research effort. A draft outline of the staff's contractors (BNL) general areas of interest was sent to PECo on February 15, 1985.
(Time frame - at the licensee's earliest convenience; attendance by approximately 3 NRC/ Contractor personnel).
2.
Discussions with plant staff concerning development of certain relatively simple, low cost improvements specifically directed at reducing wrong unit / wrong train errors (e.g. LER-278-81-008).
(Time frame - early July; attendance by approximately 3 NRC personnel from NRR ano AE0D).
As per the usual arrangements, specific details about the above proposed site visits will be forthcoming after further discussions between the NRC staff and your staff. Such details would include proposed site visit agendas and the specific number of NRC staff and/or contractors planning to attend.
We again wish to take this opportunity to express our appreciation for Philadelphia Electric's continued cooperation concerning NRC site visit requests.
