NRC Staff Visit to Seabrook Station

Dear Sir:

4 In your letter, dated May 24,1985 [ Reference (b)], you had indi-cated that members of the NRC staff intend to visit the. Seabrook Station to evaluate the status of construction completion. Additionally, you re-quested us to provide information by June 14, 1985 in support of NRC's visit.

l We are presently working on a re-evaluation of our schedules and I

budget requirements necessary for Commercial Operation. This task will encompass development of those items which you requested in your letter, and it will be completed by the end of July.

In August, we intend to meet with the project's Joint Owners to discuss the pr,oject's status, schedules, and funding requirements based on the results of the re-evaluation we are presently undertaking.

We would like for you to have the advantage of reviewing the same results prior to your site visit and assessment.

l Therefore, we feel that it would be more advantageous to the staff to visit the Seabrook Station after we have completed the above mentioned activities, so we can provide the most up to date and final quantities, dates, and details which you have requested. We would be amenable to a re-scheduled site visit for September 4, 5, and 6,1985, and we would provide the information required to support your visit by August 16, 1985.

We regret any inconveniences which you may incur due to a deferred site visit.

-As you are aware, Seabrook has been under tight financial con-straints over the last year, which has somewhat lialted our rate of construction. ~ We are proud to say, even under such constraints, we are still under budget and ahead of the schedule which we put together over a year ago.

We confidently feel that. the project has and will meet all of its milestones ou or ahead of its schedule. During the interia, should you or anyone from the staff have any concerns regarding the status of this project, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Very truly yours,
