Dear fir. O'Reilly:
We have completed the investigation involving the failure of ?3 main steam line isclation valve reported to you on November 15, 1974.
As a result of our investigation, this item is no longar considered
" reportable" as defined in Connect Jt Yankee Technical Specifications Section 5.3.
Our investigation indicated the failure of the #3 steam line trip valve to nove during its weekly motion check (reference Section 4.9, Connetlicut Yankee Technical Specifications) wn due to a failure in the test systen and not of the valve or its associated trip system.
The test system has no effect on the valve in a trip situation.
These findings conclude, therefore, that at no time was the stean line trip valve unable to perform its intended safety functior, Very truly yours, y( yW -/s N
