Training, prior to ongage,. nt, for all QA f uncti ons is required in accordance wiih 1efm<nce (c), enclosure (3). OA P)ogram revisions wi31 be made in accordance with reference (c), enclosure (1), with n,anagement appJova).
The QA Program will ensuJe that all de-fined OC Procedures, engineering piocedures, and speci fic pr o-visions of the 1ockage design approval are satisfied.
The QA Program will emphasize cont rol of the cha ract eri r,t.i cs of the f
package which are critical t o safety.

The Radiographic Safety Of ficer shall assure that all i
radioactive material shipping packages are designed and manu-l factured under a OA Program approved by Nuclear Regulatory Coxnission for all packages designed or fabricated af ter the offective date of the OA Program.
This requirement can be sat-isfjed by receiving a certification to this effect from the I
mnnuracturer.
2.
Document Cont rol, a.
All documents related to a speci fic shipping package will be contro13ed in accordance with reference (c), enclosure (9). All document changes will be performed according to writt en procedures approved by the Commanding Officer.
b..
The Radiographic Safety Of ficer shall ensure that all OA functions are conducted in accordance with the latest appli-cable changes to these documents.
3.
Handling, Storage and Shipping.
a.
Written safety procedures concerning the handling, storage and shipping of packages for certain special forms of radioactive material will be followed.
Shipments will not be made unless all tests, certifications, acceptances, and final inspections have been completed.
Work instructions will be provided for handling, storage, and shipping operations.
Radio-3ogical Control and Radiographic personnel shall perform the critical handling, storage and shipping operations.

Quality Assurance Records.
a.
Records of package approvals (including references and drawings), procurement, inspections, tests, operating logs, audit results, personnel training and qualifications and records of shipments will be maintained.
Descriptions of equipment and written procedures will also be maintained.
b.
These records will be maintained in accordance with 2eference (c), enclosure (1) and (14).
The records will be ident i fi able and retrievable.
A list of these records, with their storage l oca t.i on s, will be maintained by the Radiological Controls Officer.
6.
Audits.
a, Audits shall be conducted at interval s not to exceed 1 year and when any safety descrepancies exist.
Audits shall be performed using written check lists in accordance with reference (c), enclosure (16),
Results of audits will be main-tained and reported to the Commanding Officer, Audit reports will be evaluated and deficient areas corrected.
Personnel assigned to perform the required audits shall have no day-to-day responsibility in the activity being audited.
