Quality Assurance Program for Radi ograph ic Operation Ref:

Purpose.

To establish a Ouality Assurance Program for accurang continuous comp]iance with Nuclear regulatory Commission (NHC) License, Rules and Regulations for Radiographic Operations

2.

Background.

In accordance with reference (b), GILPORE i s authorfiGd to utilize by-product sealed sources in radiography.

Reference (a) requires that each organization establish and maintain a Quality Assurance Program to assure compliance with the rules and r egulations established by the NRC to prevent over exposure to.i nd i v i d u a l s.

Reference (c) outlines the operating and emergency procedures to be followed during Radio-graphic Operations and inspections and control.

3.

Responsibility.

The final responsibility for the Quality 7ss n urT6c~d ~~R.WFP76 gram for 3 0 CFR Part 71 requirements rests 7

with the Commanding Officer, USS HONARD M. GIl#0RE (AS16),

The QA Program is implemented using the following organizational structure:

a.

Chain of Command.

The Radiographic Safety Officer is responsjble for overall administrat. ion of the program training, certification, document contro), and auditing.

The Radiographers are responsible for hand]ing, stor-c.

ing, shipping,. inspection, test and operat ing st at us and record keeping.

4.

Action, a.

Enclosure (1) outlines the Quality Assurance Program required by reference (a) and shall be implemented in USS HOWARD W. GILMORE ( AS16).

b.

Audits shall be conducted at frequencies delineated by reference (c), enclosure (16 ), or more often as determined by the Commanding Officer.

Records shall be maintained and reports made to the c.

Commanding Off3cer in accordance with reference (c), enclosure (16).

Reports of deficiencies and of completed corrective action thereon shall be submitted within two (2) weeks of the date of inspection.
