' Brunswick Unit No. 1 operated at a 100% availability factor for the month  !

of February with a 95.7% capacity factor. There was one major power I reduction for the month which was attributed to a rod shuffle and is detailed in Appendix D of this report. The other contributor to < 100%

capacity factor is plant " efficiency" which accounted for minor losses 1 throughout the month. The unit is sche.duled for a refueling outage April 28, 1980. ,

reactor scram. The mechanical jar 1 occurred when a tool being used to operate a valve with a broken hand wheel slipped off the hand wheel.  ;

The relay which senses loss of control signal had deenergized, causing the reactor feed pump A to ,

run back to minimum speed. The '

differential transformer which actuates this relay was unusually hot, due to problems being

' expertenced with the Turbine Bu' ing chillers.

. transformer was increased by (cont'd) opening the transformer doors. An additional Turbine Building chiller was made operable with vendor assistance. This.was an unusual occurrence which is not expected to happen again and no further corrective actions required. The reactor feed pump has been operating satisfactorily since this occurrence. Overtime was worked.

SUMMARY

Brunswick No. 2 Brunswick Unit No. 2 operated at a 80.8% capacity factor for the month of February. The following power changes and shutdowns occurred during the month:

February 12: Reduced reactor power to perform condenser waterbox work.

February 13: Reactor scrammed because of a mechanical jar to an instrument during the performance of a Periodic Test. "Down Time" 56.5 hours5.787037e-5 days <br />0.00139 hours <br />8.267196e-6 weeks <br />1.9025e-6 months <br />.

February 19: Power was reduced because of a reactor recirculation pump runback.

Monthly availability factor was 91.9%. For more detailed information on individual outages, see the Unit Shutdowns and Power Reduction Log (Appendix D) for this month. Brunswick Unit No. 2 began a Refueling outage on March 1, 1980
