This is to advise you of a special inspection e1tiative'that is being performed at operating read or2.

It will include an inspection to be performed at your Catawba siu..

The initiative is entitled the " Training and Qualification Effectiveness Program".

The purpose of the inspection is to ensure that the raining and qualification of Catawba Nuclear Power Plant personnel are developed, implemented, l

evaluated, documented, and maintained as required by 10 CFR 50.120 and-10 CFR 55 and to evaluate the effectiveness of the program by which Catawba Nuclear Power Plant controls active and inactive licenses.

This inspection is a team inspection. The inspection team is expected to include six individuals: one team leader, one training and assessment specialist, and four subject matter experts.

The inspection is scheduled for January 4-8, 1993.

The team leader for thic inspection will be Mr. Lawrence L. Lawyer from Region II. Mr. Lawyer will contact members of-

.your staff in the near future to disc >iss the details of the inspection.
