Dear Dr. Murley:

Westinghouse submitted an application for certification of the APMX) design on June 26,1992, reference. The AP600 Design Certification acceptance review, SECY-92-294, identified information not submitted in the reference which the NRC considers pertinent to the review of an application for a Final Design Approval and Design Certification . The submittal attached to this letter provides the material listed in SECY 92-294 as pertinent to the APuX) Final Design Approval and Design Certification review.

Attachment 1 provides the results of a comparison of the APGX) design to the ALWR Requirements Document, which includes a description of the reason for the deviation and the plan to reach -

resolution.

-.WCAP-13559 provides a description of the operational experience incorporated into the APMX) design.

Five copies of this report are enclosed.

Attachment 2 provides the discussion required by the National Environmental Policy Act of the severe accident mitigation design alternatives incorporated into the APMX) design. This attachment provides a

! revised response to "NRC request for additional information on the APGX)," Question Number 100.2.

l This attachment also responds to the request in a NRC letter f rom D. M. Crutchfield to l

B. A. McIntyre, dated November 21,1991. This response will be incorporated into tiw SSAR as

- Appendix IB.
