Applicable Preservice Inspection to be performed in accordance with the ASME Section XI, 1977 Edition through and including Stener 1978 Addenda.       'INE CCDE REQUIRE-M!NP CAMOF BE MET:       Due to inaccessibility there is no access to the ptmp casing welds. Welds are located in the ptmp          housing and err a w                    in                cuwu.ei.e.

Exanination of required welds would require ccuplete disassatbly of pump. If pimp is disassenbled for normal maintenance e = nhation of welds will be considered at that time. REASON NHY R11IEE' SHOUID BE GRANFl!D: Request for an exenption frt2n Preservice Inspection of inaccessible portions of ptsty casing welds on CSH, CSL and RHS "B" ptmpe located inside of concrete ptmp support encasements. Examination of the accessible pimp casing welds will be performed.

1) 'Ihese welds have been voltanetrically exanined by Radiography and hydrostatically tested, passed in accordance with the ASME Section III, class 2 requirunents.
2) 'Ihe failure of these welds, thus leading to failure of the pump, would have no adverne
affect on plant safety as redundant ECCS i systens are provided.

CODE REQUIREMENT ASME SECTICN XI: Integral welded attachnents for Class 1, 5/8" design thickness, Class 2, 3/4" design thickness are subject to Surface Exmination (Liquid Penetrant or Magnetic Particle) exmination once as a Preservice. Integral welded attachnents on lines shall be limited to those lines selected under category B-J Class 1, and C-F and

2) Verification of ASME Section III Code requirements has been perform d, as allowed by ASME Section XI, INB-2200 for Class 1, and IWC-2200 for Class 2.

Applicable Picservice Inspection to be performed in accordance with the ASME Section XI, 1977 Edition through and including Stumer 1978 Addenda. COCE REQUIRENENT ASME SECTION XI: The pressure retaining welds located on the CSL, CSH and RHS "B" punps are required to be Preservice surface examined (magnetic particle) for Preservice Inspection in accordance with the (] ASME Section XI, IWC-2500-1 category C-G. (/ INEORMATION 'IO SUPPOlU U E DETERMINATION DIAT D E CODE REQUIRE-MENE CANtK7f BE METf: Due to inaccessibility there is no access to the pmp casing welds. Welds are located in the pmp housing and encased in concrete. 3 Examination of required welds would require ! cmplete disassably of pump. If pmp is l disassabled for normal maintenance examination !' of welds will be considered at that time. l REASON WHY RELIEF l SHOUID BE GRANIED: Request for an exemption frm Preservice Inspection of inaccessible portions of pump ! casing welds on CSH, CSL and RHS "B" pmps ! located inside of concrete pump support encasements. Exmination of the accessible purp casing welds will be perfctmed.

1) 'Ihese welds have been volumetrically examined by Radiography and hydrostatically tested, passed in accordancs. with the ASNE Section III, Class 2 requirenents.
2) 'Ihe failure of these welds, thus leading to l, failure of the pmp, would have no adverse
  ~]                                  affect on plant safety as redundant ECCS systems are provided.
