-t Comment-Sixty pareent of the liquid affluent, E excepted-,
in Table 6 of DES is.I-131.
The ER states sa average hold-up time of 14 days.
Why samaet the liquid effluent be held an additiemal 6' weeks, thereby reducing the 60E factor to 2.4% for I-1317
- Response-The I-131 releases previously reported resulted in deses of 8.4 aren/yr from eew-milk chain and
,2 ares /yr from drinking water.
Since the I-131
~
releases in'the revised source term are smaller than previewely reported, the doses will be smaller and are aise acceptable.
We comelade e'
that.the releases.are as low as practiemble t,
sad that se additional waste storage tasks or treatment-are required.

Damial Muller Resposse-Operating plaats have demonstrated tha' demiseraliser officiamey is a fumettom of water quali r.y, sampling method and operating somditions.
The s.3st important of these, bewever, is water quality.
The polishing domineraliser desentaminaties faster of 10 for Cs med Sr used is our evaluation for average water quality eenditions during the 40 year life of a uselaar plant.
The calculated Sr-90 releases from Units 1 and 2 and Cs-137 releases from Unit I are less them.000005 of the 10 CFR 20 limits.
The Co-137 release from Unit 2 is.00002 times 16 CFR 20, because of the assumpties in eer evaluaties that 10% of the sendemasta desimerslimer regenerate seisties is released untrasted.
This assumpties was made te redese the preesseing lead en the Misse11ameems Waste Evaporator to resseeable levels.
We somslade that the removal process for Cs-137 and Sr-98 in the liquid radweste system is adequate.
