MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT - ADDITION OF HOLDUP TANKS IN THE j
OFF-CAS SYSTEM I received a call on January 15, 1971, from Mr. E. C. Ward, manager.
of licensing for Northern States Power (NSP), concerning NSP's pro-posal to add a recombiner and holdup tanks to the condenser of f-gas system.
Mr. Ward wished to notify us that shortly af ter a license is granted for the Monticello plant NSP would like to formally sub-mit for our review its proposed scheme for reducing the activity of the off-gas effluent. NSP had previously briefed as on their holdup system at a meeting held at Bethesda on August 21, 1970.
Mr. Ward said the purpose of his call was to alert us to the pend-d ing submittal and to advise our management that the design of the holdup systes had proceeded to the point where approval by DRL is required to honor a commitment to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency that no action would be taken without approval of the AEC.
I told Mr. Ward that I would be glad to arrange a meeting at a mutually acceptable time.- 11ovever, I advised Mr. Ward that follow-ing the issuance of an operating license, additional matters and changes to the Monticello license would be handled by a BWR reactor l
project group. I told Mr. Ward that I would provide whatever con-tinuity was required to expedite the transfer of review matters to another group.
