Mr. Stewart-D. Ebneter's letter dated October 1,1992 transmitted the initial SALP Report for McGuire Nucl ear Station for the period February 3,1991 through August 1,1992. The report was discussed with Duke Power representatives during a meeting held on October 13,1992 at McGuire Nuclear Station.
We appreciate the perspective offered by the NRC in this SALP Report and will utilize this input to further improve the quali+y of operations at McGuire Nuclear Station.
The SALP Report has been reviewed in an effort to assist management in focusing future actions and
' involvement in particular areas of station operation and support. As a result of our review of the SALP Report, we would like to make two comments. These comments are listed in conjunction with the

functional areas evaluated in the SALP Report.
Emeroency Preparedness On page 14 (first paragraph), the raport incorrectly states "The licensee reduced the facility augmentation response goal from 75 minutes to 60 minutes". The current facility augmentation response goal is 75 minutes and we have no plans to change the response goal to 60 minutes.
Security On page 15 (second paragraph), the staff refers tu a " Security Management Focus (SMF) Group". The correct name is " Security Maintr. nance Focus (SMF) Group" Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this SALP Report.
