Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit 1 (TMI-1)
Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Revised Post Eddy Current Inspection Report By letter dated February 27, 1985, GPUN submitted a report per Technical Specification 4.19.5a on the number of tubes repaired or removed from service. The number of tubes reported removed from service was 1009 in Steam Generator A and 300 in Steam Generator B.
This was based on the criteria contained in the GPUN submittal of January 31, 1985.
On March 29, 1985, GPUN informed the NRC that steam generator tubes would be plugged in accordance with the existing repair limits specified in Technical Specification 4.19.4.a.6 in order to avoid potential limitations to the restart of TMI-1. This plugging was completed April 5,1985.
In addition, 6 tubes (3 in the lane / wedge area in each steam generator) which did not exceed the repair limit were removed from service since they were stabilized. The revised totals of tubes removed from service since fabrication are 1217 in Steam Generator A and 325 in Steam Generator B.
