Hot Cell - Stc cage Pool Operations As many of you know I am extremely concerned about the safe use of the Hot Cell / Storage Pool complex at Georgia Tech.
Because of the seriousness of this operation, that involves the frequent transfer of up to 600,000 Curies of Co-60 from one place to another, and because of the current confusion and
-f hostility surrounding the ORS, I recommend that the Hot Cell operations be terminated.
This action if approved by the Committee should stay in force until such time as the ORS has had time to regroup its other less hazardous but regulatory responsibilities on the campus and at Georgia State.
If this is not acceptable to the Committee I recommend that I be present to monitor with Health Physics replacement personnel any time the hot cell is used.
This actilon should stay' in force until I am satisfied with other personnel who may perform this same i
function in the future.
