Subject:

19% Joint Frequency Distribution (JFD) of Wind Direction, Wind Speed, and Atmospheric Stability at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Power Stations Units 1 and 2 (NMP1 and NMP2)

Gentlemen:

i This letter transmits the information initially requested by Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) under cover letter dated May 1,1995. Subsequent to receiving this letter, Niagara l

Mohawk was informed by BNL that they were no longer under contract to the NRC for compiling commercial nuclear plant effluent data and they no longer required this information.

Mr. D. S. Hood, NRR Project Manager, and Mr. W. D. Baker of Niagara Mohawk discussed the status of this information request by phone on March 18,1996. Mr. Hood indicated that i

i Niagara Mohawk should forward this information to the NRC at the Document Control Desk.

f Enclosed are:

Brookhaven National Laboratory 1994 "CPRD MI" Data Form complete with wind speed class and calms information (Items #8 and #9).

Joint frequency distribution (JFD) of direction, windspeed, and stability in X00D0Q format of frequencies of occurrence for the year, 1993, in either hours or percent:

A matrix consisting of 16 columns for the directions starting with s

north and proceeding clockwise to end with NNW.

The directions denote the direction from which the wind is blowing.

The rows represent the various speed classes for each of up to 14 stability categories: Pasquill-A through F (G may be optional).

The array should be placed in an IBM compatible text file on either I

a 360K, 1.2M, or 1.4M floppy disk. Examples are given in Exhibits 1 through 4 for two acceptable formats, r

or Mi/hr (Indicate which).

8.

Wind speed classes for the JFD (m/s)

A maximum of fourteen classes may be designated, although only 6 or 7 are typical. If calms not considered separate class, see next item.
