Gentlemen:
Subject:
VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION DOCKET NO. 50/395 OPERATING LICENSE N0 NPF-12 INSTRUMENTATION TO FOLLOW THE COURSE OF AN ACCIDENT, REGULATORY GUIDE (RG) 1.97 In response to your letter dated March 30, 1992, subject as above, South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) has identified the accumulator tank level and pressure instrumentation as RG 1.97 Type D, Category 3, in agreement with the conclusion reached by the NRC staff in their safety evaluation.
Since the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station's installed instrumentation maets the regulatory requirements for Category 3 instrumentation, no action will be required by SCE&C.
Should you have any questions concerning this issue, please call Mr. Manuel W. Gutierrez at (803) 345-4392 at your convenience.
Very truly yours N
