20555 Attention:
Mr. Harold R. Denton
Dear Mr. Denton:
SUBJECT:
Hydrogen Control Owners Group Program Plan HCN-025 On December 14, 1984, the Hydrogen Control Owners Group (HCOG) submitted a copy of its Hydrogen Control Program Plan for demonstrating compliance with the hydrogen control requirements. HCOG requests that a meeting between the HCOG members and executives and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Staf f be scheduled for January 23, 1985.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the Hydrogen Control Program Plan and acceptaace criteria, and to obtain NRC approval of the program plan concept and philosophy. Attachment i to this letter provides a proposed agenda for this meeting.
Following the requested January 23, 1985 meeting, the HCOG believes that more detailed technical meetings with appropriate NRC Staff review personnel are needed to review the individual program plan tasks and associated acceptance criteria. It is suggested that these meetings be held on January 24 and 25, 1985. Some of those tasks are complete (or essentially complete) se identified in the individual task descriptions in the program plan, and it is anticipated that discussion of those tasks will be limited. Attachment 2 provides a proposed agenda with those two days which groups closely related tasks, thus allowing more effective conduct of the meetings.
HCOG feels that the approach set forth in this letter will satisfactorily resolve hydrogen control issues as related to the Mark III Containment in a canner that will efficiently utilize NRC and utility resources.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely, 8501300186 850108 PDR ADOCK 05000416 S. H. Hobbs P
