Call with WMG Date:
Wednesday, April 22, 2020 1:57:00 PM Steve, Duncan,
Thanks for offering to support a teleconference with WMG regarding the update to HPPOS-288. I called WMG today to set one up and learned that John LePere (our contact from working on the Concentration Averaging BTP) had just retired (on March 31).
I then spoke with Steve Berger, who is taking over some of Johns responsibilities. We had a brief (5 minute) conversation. I told him he would be getting a letter from NRC informing WMG that we are updating some of the HPPOS, and, as part of that effort, we would be changing the NRC webpage that mentions the RADMAN Topical Report. I told him there was no concern about RADMAN, but we would be updating the site to indicate that Topical Report Reviews are not necessary for vendor software, and that it is the licensees responsibility to ensure regulatory compliance. I told him the site would still link to the 1983 RADMAN Topical Report Approval for Referencing for historical reference.
He didnt have any further questions at the time, but said he would mention it with his management and see if they had questions. I told him I had a colleague on the reactor side and one in State programs who could support the call. He has my contact phone number and email if he needs to follow up.
So for now, he did not see the need for a further teleconference, but I will keep you posted if he gets back to me with questions.
Thanks
