20555 NRC DOCKET 50-321 OPERATING LICENSE DPR-57 EDWIN I. HATCH NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 1 NOTICE OF INTENT TO SUBMIT JUSTIFICATION FOR CONTINUED SERVICE WITH WELD OVERLAYS Gentlemen:
During recent discussions with Mr. H. L. Thompson, Jr. of WC concerning Plant Hatch licensing activities, etc., Messrs. R. E. Conway and L. T. Gucwa of Georgia Power Company (GPC) indicated that the main recirculation system 3
piping at Hatch triit 1 would not be Ieplaced during the Fall 1985 maintenance / refueling outage and that GPC would pursue a third cycle of service with weld overlays.
The purpose of this letter.is to formally advise you of our position Iegarding piping replacement and our intention to pursue a third cycle of service with welo overlays.
While your letter dated January 3,1985 indicates that we are to submit inspection plans at least thirty days prior to the next outage, we intend to submit, tentatively by May 1,1985, our justification for continued service with weld overlays and our inspection plans for the Fall 1985 maintenance /Iefueling outage for your Ieview and comment.
