Telephone Conversation between A. Hon and T. Bradish on February 19, 1985
Dear Sir:
The NRC was notified of a potentially reportable deficiency in the ref-crenced telephone conversation. At that time, it was estimated that a determination of reportability would be made within thirty (30) days.
Due to the extensive investigation and evaluation required, an Interim Report is attached.
It is now expected that this information will be finalized by April 5, 1985 at which time a complete report will be submitted.
Very truly yours, A

INTERIM REPORT - DER 85-05 POTENTIALLY REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY s
. ARIZONA NUCLEAR POWER PROJECT (ANPP)
PVNGS UNITS 2 & 3
-I.
Potential Problem
. Nonsegregated bus fire penetrations do not have the proper taping on the bus conductor within the firestop area.
The lack of tape results in an installation that is not in accordance with the manufacturer's approved fire seal design and, therefore, is suspect.
The-problem was identified in Unit I by NCR SE-5260 (superseded by EER 84-PB-002), A similar problem is thought to exist in Units 2 and 3.
The Unit i deficiency is being evaluated under Potentially Reportable Occurrence No. 1-85-0031,- issued by ANPP Operations.
II.
Approach To and Status Of Proposed Resolution Bechtel Engineering is currently evaluating the quantity of com-bustibles within 20 feet of the fire penetrations to determine if a fire could degrade the penetrations.- This evaluation will determine reportability and technical justification for corrective action.
III. Projected Completion of Corrective Action and Submittal of the Final Report.
The complete evaluation and final report are forecast to t' completed by April.5, 1985.
