Final 10CFR50.55(e) Report; Titeflex Corporation Flexible Hose Assemblies

Dear Sir:

We filed, in Reference (d), an Interim 10CFR50.55(e) Report regarding Titeflex Corporation flexible hose assemblies. Flexible hose assemblies supplied by Titeflex Corporation, which are intended for use in the Component Cooling Water System (Class 3) and the Diesel Generator Coolant System (Class 3), did not comply with Saction NC/hT 4810(c), Figure NC4810(c)-1 and NC/ND 5720 (c) of the 1980 ASME,Section III, Division 1 Code. We indicated, in Reference (d), that this item was reportable under 10CFR50.55(e).

A detailed engineering evaluation was undertaken which resulted in a redesign of the butt joint in question to meet ASME requirements.

The Code requires that the circumferential weld between the bellows and flange should have been a butt weld. The original configuration supplied was a corner or edge joint as defined by AWS.

Starostecki, Director Page 2 All assemblies were returned to the manufacturer for reworking and have been returned. to the site. The documentation supplied by the manufacturer and our inspection indicates that all assemblies now meet the Code requirements.

^ 6 This letter is considered to be the final report on this item.
