By letter dated February 19, 2020 (Reference 1), Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon) submitted the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station (PBAPS) 2020 Biennial Emergency Preparedness Exercise scenario package in support of a biennial exercise scheduled for April 21, 2020. The exercise scenario was submitted at least 60 days prior to the scheduled exercise date as required by 10 CFR 50, Appendix E, Section IV, paragraph (F)(2)(b). The information provided in the Reference 1 letter included the scenario objectives, schedules, exercise rules, and controller contingency and simulation information. The documentation was considered "confidential" in nature and Exelon requested that it be withheld from public disclosure and the information was marked accordingly.
Due to the current situation surrounding the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE), PBAPS has postponed the emergency preparedness exercise originally scheduled for April 21, 2020, and is rescheduling the exercise for some time later in the fourth quarter of 2020. Exelon still plans to use this scenario during the rescheduled exercise.
U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station 2020 Emergency Preparedness Biennial Exercise Scenario Withhold Previously Submitted Exercise Scenario Information NRC Docket Nos. 50-171, 50-277, 50-278 and 72-29 April 20, 2020 Page 2 Exelon is requesting that the PBAPS exercise scenario previously submitted to the NRC in the Reference 1 letter continue to be withheld from public disclosure in accordance with the guidance described in Regulatory Issue Summary (RIS) 2015-017, "Review and Submission of Updates to Final Safety Analysis Reports, Emergency Preparedness Documents, and Fire Protection Documents," dated December 23, 2015.
