MP2 Pressurizer Weld Issues

  • In Sept 2019 and Jan 2020, Framatome identified deviations in the post weld heat treatment of welds in certain large components
  • These deviations pertain to the control of temperature within the ranges specified in the ASME code
  • The Millstone pressurizer was mentioned in both Part 21 discussions 16 04/21/2020 MP2 Pressurizer Weld Issues
  • NRC staff reviewed Framatomes Part 21 evaluation for the first issue and determined there is no immediate safety concern for those basic components supplied to U.S. reactors
  • A meeting to discuss the second PWHT issue is scheduled for May 19, 2020
