Subject:

' Docket Nos. 50-369 and 50-370 Technical Specifications for the Groundwater Monitoring System g.

Dear Mr. Denton:

Attached are proposed license amendments to Facility Operating Licenses NPF-9

- and NPF-17 for McGuire !!uclear Station Unit's'l and 2, respectively. The proposed changes eliminate inconsistencies between the Technical Specifications and the capabilities of the Groundwater Monitoring System as-installed at McGuire Nuclear Station. The interior groundwater monitors detect and alarm the exterior ground-water level rise when it is 2'-8" above the monitored floor level. Contrary to fthis, the current Technical Specifications specify that the interior groundwater level monitors detect and alarm when the groundwater level rises to the top of the monitored floor slab rather than 2'-8" above the floor slab. The asbuilt

~

capabilities of the Groundwater Monitoring System are not properly reflected in~

the current-Technical Specifications..contains the necessary Technical Specification changes to assure

~

consistency-between the Technical Specifications and the groundwater monitoring

~ provides a equipment as installed at McGuire Units 1 and 2.-

' Justification and Safety Analysis in support of the proposed changes to the Technical Specifications and Attachment 3 provides an analysis performed in i

accordance with the standards contained in 10CFR50.92 as required by 10CFR50.91.

F These analyses conclude that the proposed changes do not have any adverse safety

~

or environmental impact.

This request involves one application for amendment to McGuire's Technical Specifications. -Accordingly, pursuant to 10CFR170.21 a check for $150.00 is enclosed.

P Please feel free to contact us if you require any additional information.

Very truly yours, i:
