Docket No. 50-352 Attachment to Monthly 4 Operating Report for December, 1984 LIMERICK GENERATING STATION NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCES DECEMBER, 1984 UNIT 1 Limerick Unit 1 was in the Cold Shutdown mode at the beginning of December while the plant was preparing for initial criticality.

The Reactor system temperature was maintained at approximately 135 degrees Fahrenheit by running a combination of shutdown cooling without cooling water and operation of two Reactor Recirculation pumps. On December 21, 1984 at 2255, the mode switch was placed in the Startup position and control rod withdrawal commenced. At 0318 on 12/22/84, initial criticality was attained. The unit was maintained in this condition for approximately 2 hours2.314815e-5 days <br />5.555556e-4 hours <br />3.306878e-6 weeks <br />7.61e-7 months <br /> for testing. Control Rods were inserted and at 0845 on 12/22/84, the mode switch was placed in the Shutdown position. At 0413 on 12/30/84, the mode switch was placed in the Startup position to begin low power testing. The plant was maintained in this condition through the end of the month.

There were no challenges to the main steam system safety-relief valves during the month.
