Clinton Power Station Unit 1 IE Bulletin No. 83-06

Dear Mr. Keppler:

This interim report is an update in response to the subject IE Bulletin addressing the use of nonconforming materials supplied by Tube-Line Corporation.

Previous Illinois Power reports on this subject were supplied to you via letters from Mr. D. P. Hall to Mr. J. G. Keppler dated December 23, 1983: May 4, 1984; and September 14, 1984.

These reports provided Illinois Power's plan for identifying, locating and dispositioning Tube-Line Corporation materials supplied to the Clinton Power Station (CPS).

Illinois Power's investigation of IE Bulletin No. 83-06 is continuing.

To date, all Tube-Line materials supplied to Clinton Power Station (CPS) have been identified and the following actions are in progress to identify the utilization and location of Tube-Line Materials:

1.

The checklist (s) used to perform the final review for construction travelers is being revised to include a check for Tube-Line Material.

2.

A review is being performed of all construction travelers that have already received final review to identify any Tube-Line Material.

3.

A review is being performed to verify that all construction travelers had a materials-take-off review for Tube-Line Materials.

4.

All Tube-Line Material not yet located is being identified in a Potentially Unacceptable Materials Log.

5.

Action is being taken to verify that all Tube-Line Materials received as a part of an N-stamped component, other component or subassembly, have been identified as such.

The purchase order files for these items have been flagged to assure awareness of Tube-Line Materials.

In addition, a review is being performed of all Class 0 and buried ASME piping construction travelers to.

identify any Tube-Line Material.

For other classes, the review is complete.

Nonconformance reports (NCRs) are being issued to document identified Tube-Line Materials.

These NCRs are being dispositioned

-in accordance with approved site procedures.

Activities associated with this investigation are nearing completion and it is anticipated that approximately sixty (60) days will be required to complete our investigation and to file a final report on the-issue addressed by IE Bulletin No. 83-06.
