SALEM GENERATING STATION MONTHLY OPERATING

SUMMARY

- UNIT NO. 2 OCTOBER 1984 The period began.with'the second refueling / turbine outage in progress.

Preparations continue'for installation of the General Electric Generator.

The existing Generator has been lifted off its foundation

~ and lowered to the ground.

The new Low Pressure Rotors (3) arrived on site 11/7/84.

Dismantling of the auxiliary equipment for the Westinghouse Generator has been completed.

The Stator Cooling Water and Seal Oil skids for the General Electric Generator are being installed.

Sludge lancing and annulus inspection of the Steam Generators has been completed.

Steam Generator secondary side inspections were completed satisfactorily.

No. 24 Steam Generator tube leak repair continues.

The leak has been found via a helium leak check and is in the process of being plugged.

The first shipment of new fuel arrived on site on 11/8/84.

Type C leak rate testing of -

Containment Isolation Valves is in progress.

To date eighty-seven (87) or one-hundred and thirteen (113) valves have been accepted.

Nos. 21 and 23 Reactor Coolant Pump (RCP) seal replacement continues.

No. 22 Service Water Header inspections and repairs were completed.

No. 21 Service Water Header outage and No. 2A Vital Bus outage activities have been st arted.
