Docket No. 50-219 Facility Operating License No. DPR-16 Generic Letter (GL) 95-07: Pressure Locking and Thermal Binding of Safety-Related Power-Operated Gate Valves This letter provides notification of extension to our previous commitment to evaluate potential gate valve thermal binding at lower temperature differentials. GPU Nuclear's letter to the NRC dated November 14,1995 (C321-95-2321) provided the results of the OCNGS evaluations performed in response to NRC GL-95-07, dated August 17,1995, " Pressure Locking and Thermal Binding of Safety-Related Power-Operated Gates Valves." This letter also indicated that GPU Nuclear would further evaluate potential thermal binding at reduced temperature differentials based on industry experience discussed at the NRC Region I GL-95-07 Workshop j
held on November 2,1995. The results of this evaluation were planned to be provided by February 17,1996; however additional time is required to complete the evaluation and finalize the results. Accordingly, GPU Nuclear will submit the results of this additional evaluation by l
April 16,1996.
