Dear Mr. Pate:
This letter is in response to your telephone conversation with Jim Molden on November 26, 1984, regarding observation training for Mr. Dan Barkley.
Mr. Barkley has spent the following time in the Control Room since his arrival at Diablo Canyon Power Plant:
- 1) 8 weeks as a Control Room Advisor,
- 2) 4 weeks as an observer.
Mr. Barkley will spend at least four more weeks in the Control Room prior to being examined by the NRC on January 15, 1985.
Based on the amount of time Mr. Barkley will have spent in the Control Room prior to the examination, and the fact that he previously held an NRC SR0 license at McGuire Power Plant, we request that you waive the remaining four weeks of the required 12-week observation time.
