In accordance with 10 CFR 50.55a(f)(4)(ii), the IST plans shall be revised to comply with the requirements of the latest edition and addenda of the ASME Code incorporated by reference in 10 CFR 50.55a(b)(2) twelve months prior to the start of the second interval.
The latest edition of the ASME Code incorporated by reference in this case is the 1989 Edition.

In the reference letter, it was indicated that Catawba planned to upgrade the Unit 1 and 2 IST plans to be in compliance with the 1989 ASME Code and submit them together prior to December 29,1995.
Accordingly, pursuant to the requirements of 10 CFR 50.55a, attached is a copy of
. Revision 23 of the Catawba Pump and Valve IST Program for Units 1 and 2 to be used during the second ten-year interval. This program has been developed in accordance with the 1989 ASME Code and OM 6 and OM-10 for pumps and valves, respectively. Note that, since the Unit 1 and 2 plans are being updated together and will essentially be the same for both units, the new mvision number (23) will be applied to both units. (The previous revision numbers were 22 for Unit 1 and 13 for Unit 2.) The effective date,s for the changes as provided by this submittal are June 29,1996 for Unit 1 and Augu'st 19, L1996 for Unit 2. Catawba themfore requests NRC review and approval of this submittal by May 1,1996.
