Gentimen

Generic Letter 84-23 provided the results of the NRC Staff review of the report SLI-8211, " Review of NR Reactor Vessel Water Level Measurenent Systens", which was prepared by S. Levy, Inc. for the WR Owners Group. In the generic letter three potential improvenent categories were identified and BWR licensees were requested to subnit within 30 days their plans and schedule for implementing the first two categories of improvenent. Georgia Power Canpany subnits the following information pursuant to that request.

GPC actively participated in the BWR Owners Group activities related to the reactor vessel water level study, including the discussions between the Owners Group and the NRC Staff. In an effort to address - the areas of concern raised in the Owners Group study, GPC raluested S. Levy, Inc. to perform a plant-specific study of the Hatch Units 1 and 2 reactor vessel water level systens. 'Ihe results of that plant-specific study are in draft form and are presently being reviewed by GPC. Following cmpletion of the

study, a specific plan and schedule for water level systen improvenents will be developed and subnitted to the NRC. This subnittal will be made by May 6, 1985.
