i MANAGEMENT ACTIONS A.
Positive Test P?sults:
i There were a total of three confirmed positive test results during this reporting period. These results and subsequent management actions can be categorizec as follows:
1.
One confirmed positive random test for drugs resulted in permanent tevocation of that individuz,l's unescorted access authorization and termination of employment with SCE8G.
2.
One confirmed positive random breath analysis test for alcohol resulted in temporary suspension of that individual's unescorted access authorization. The individual was counseled reoarding SCE&G policy on

alcohol consumption at the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station prior to reinstatement of unescorted access authorization. Disciplinary action was taken against the mdividual.
3.
One confirmed positive pre-err.ployment test for drugs resulted in termbation of consideration for employment with SCE&G. This individut.1 will not be given consideration for unescorted access authorization to Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station in the future.
D.
Split Samples:
One split sample was shipped to the back up laboratory for testing during this reporting period. The split sample tested positive, and the test was declared confirmed positive by the Medical Review Officer.
C.
Direct Observation Collections:
The Medical Review Of ficer requested direct observation collections for two individuals due to creatinine and specific gravity abnormalities. These direct observation collectior s were accc,mplished after approval by the Manager, Nuclear Protection Services. No further abnormalities were noted by the
- Medical Review Of ficer, and all test results were declared negative.

Random Testing:
There were 671 random tests conducted this reporting period, resulting in 2 confirmed positive test results which constitutes a positive random test rate of
.3%. The total average population during this period was 1212 resulting in an overall random testing rate of 55.36% There were 66 random collections performed on back shif t, weekends, and holidays.
B.
Additional Substances / Lower Cut Off Levels:
The additional substances and lower cutof f level for marijuana used by SCE8.G did r 7 <esett in any additional confirmed positive results for this rep wting pericd C.
Blind Performance Testing:
During the first quarter of 1992, there were 515 genuine specimens and 60 blind performance test specimens submitted to the primary testing laboratory.
The number of blind performance specimens submitted is equivalent to 11.65% of the number of genuine specimens submitted. In the second quarter of 1992, there were 475 genuine specimen < and 60 blind performance test specimens submitted to the primary testing laboratory. The number of blind performance specimens submitted is equivalent to 12.63% of the number of genuine specimens submitted.
In both quarters, the percentage of positive and neDative blind performance specimens submitted was 20% and 80%, respectively. All drugs tested by our program were included in the positive blind performance specimens submitted. There were no discrepant results.
REPORTABLE EVENTS There was one reportable event involving a confirmed positive test result on a supervisor, The Nuclear Regulatory Commission was notified by telephone within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> of the event.
SUMMARY
The two confirmed positive random test results and one confirmed positive pre.
l employment test result received during this reporting period indicate a low degree l
of substance abuse at the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station. SCE&G remains committed to providing a work environment free from the effects of substance l
abuse at the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station.
