Attached are proposed' license amendments to Facility Operating. Licenses NPF-9 and NPF-17 for McGuire Nuclear . Station Units ~1 and 2, respectively.'; The ..

proposed changes to-the Technical' Specifications seek to relax certain overly-conservative surveillance and testing requirements for the Auxiliary Feedwater Pumps.'nDuke Power Company proposes to change the testing requirements for these pumps to those recommended by the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI, Subsection lWP.

Attachment I contains the Proposed Technical Specification changes. Attechment II provides a Technical Justification and Safety Analysis in support of the proposed change including test results of the auxiliary feedwater pumps. Attachment III

. provides an Analysis of Significant Harards Consideration in cecordance with the standards.of 10CFR 50.92 as required by 10CFR 50.91. The proposed.anendment has been reviewed and has been determined to have no adverse safety or environmental impact. .

.This request involves.one application for amendment to the McGuire Technical C

, Specifications. Accordingly, pursuant to 10 CFR 170.21 a check for $150.00 is enclosed.
