NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION GPU NUCLEAR CORPORATION AND JERSEY CENTRAL POWER AND LIGHT COMPANY DOCKET NO. 50-219 NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT TO PROVISIONAL OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued Amendment No. 76 to Provisional Operating License No. DPR-16, issued to GPU Nu: lear Corporation and Jersey Central Power and Light Company (the licensees),

which revised the Technical Specifications and the license for operation of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station (the facility) located in Ocean County, New Jersey.

The amendment was effective as of the date of its issuance.

The amendment authorized increased storage capacity of the spent fual pool from 1800 fuel assemblies to 2600 fuel assemblies with average enrich-ments no greater than 3.01 weight percent U-235.

The application for the amendment complies with the standards and require-ments of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the l

l' Commission's rules and, regulations.

The Commission has made appropriate findi.ngs as required by the Act and the Commission's rules and regulations in i

10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license amendment.

Ntice of Consideration of Issuance of Amendment and Opportunity for Prior Hearing in connection with this action was published in the FEDERAL REGISTER on October 8, 1982 (47 FR 44647).

No request for a hearing or petition for leave to intervene was filed following this notice.

Based upon the environmental assessment, the staff concluded that there are no significant radiological or non-radiological impacts associated with the proposed action and that the proposed license amendment will not have a significant effect on the cuality of the human environment.

Therefore, the Commission has determined, pursuant to 10 CFR 51.31, not to prepare an environmental impact statement for the proposed amendment. A Notice of Issuance of Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact was published in the FEDERAL REGISTER on September 17, 1984 (49 FR 36460).
