Docket No. 50-461 Septenber 26, 1984 g

Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention: Mr. A. Schwencer, Chief Licensing Branch No. 2

-Division of Licensing U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555

Subject:

Clinton Power Station Unit 1 feismic Qualificacien of Equipment

Dear Mr. Schwencer:

As referenced in the Clinton SSER 2, attachment 1 is submitted and constitutes a summary update to information previously forwarded with

' Illinois Power letter #U-0707 dated April 30, 1984.

Specific details concerning seismic qualification status for each piece of equipment are available in preliminary form, and copies can be provided if you need them.

Of the 9.852 pieces of equipment'which require seismic qual-ification, 5524 are qualified, of which 1767 are installed.

Expressed as a percentage, approximately 56% are qualified and 17.9% are qualified and installed. Current schedule projections indicate achievement of the 85% equipment qualified and installed on or before May, 1985.

Substantial improvement in the installation complete status is anticipated in the near term due to improvements in cable pulling and termination progress which will complete many equipment installations.

Illinois Power anticipates achievement of 85% qualified and installed criteria commensurate with an NRC SQRT audit by July, 1985.

Please contact us if you have any questions concerning this information.

Sincerely yours, 54#
