Dear Sir:
The NRC was notified of a potentially reportable deficiency in the referenced telephone conversation. At that time, it was estimated that a determination of reportability would be made within thirty (30) days.
Due to the extensive investigation and evaluation required, an Interim Report is attached.
It is now expected that this information will be finalized by October 19, 1984, at which time a complete report will be submitted.

- a. In accordance with Combustion Engi,eering (C-E) serial number list, IEC-84-675, there appears to be four Poxboro modules, serial numbers 3647589, 3647581, 4712336, and 4712337, installed in Unit -2 instead of Unit 1.
- b. A total of six Foxboro modules are installed in Unit 2 which are not on the C-E serial number list.
Note: This condition is similar to that identified in DER 83-73.

Approach To and Status Of Proposed Rasolution Bechtel Engineering is currently studying this problem to
. determine reportability and technical justification for corrective action.-
III.
Projected Completion of Corrective Action and Submittal of the Final Report The co'plete evaluation and final report are forecast to be -
