Revised Response to Notice of Violation, NRC IE Inspection Report Number 50-461/81-25

Dear Mr. Keppler:

This letter is in reference to the Illinois Power Company response U-0396, dated January 8, 1982, to your Notice of Viola-tion dated December 9, 1981, NRC IE Inspection Report Number 50-461/81-25.

The violation identified by the NRC inspector was that

" physical and environmental protection from nearby construction activity was not provided for.... numerous p' recut, coiled, temp-orarily stored Class 1E electrical cables.

The response con-tained in Illinois Power Company letter U-0396 stated in part:

With regard to cable protection, four (4) enclosed staging areas are being constructed in the plant to provide a suitable controlled environment for cables temporarily stored near the construction activity.

Illinois Power Company provides the following revised response:

1.

Baldwin' Associates rocedure BAP 3.3.2, Cable Installation, will incorporate the requirement that cable be stored in designated areas for protection from potential damage.

Cable storage prior to installation shall be in accordance with procedure BAP 2.4, Storage and Maintenance.

Baldwin Associates-Quality Control shall perform in-plant storage inspections on a periodic basis to assure storage requirements are maintained.
