Dear Mr. Youngblood:

This letter provides the information which The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company committed to provide during the August 17, 1984 closecut meeting of the Seismic Qualification and Pump and Valve Operability (SQRT/PVORT) audits. This was documented in the August 28, 1984 memorandum " Summary Report of SQRT and PVORT Audit of Electrical / Mechanical Equipment Qualification Files and Component Installations at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant Site the Week of August 13-17, 1984."

Item one requested that we confirm that test documentation and procedures relative to the GE relay No. 01774E are in the GE files at San Jose, California. The Test Report (QTR-GP-1) and Teot Procedure (QTP-GP-1) have been verified to be in the GE San Jose files. The cover sheets are included as Attachment 1.

In response to item two, we identified to the review team prior to the audit that electrical protection assembly MPL No. 1C71S003G was a "B" category item, which means that the qualification testing is finished but the completed test report has not yet been received for CEI review. Included as Attachment 2 is the requested test procedure describing the qualification tests performed on this assembly, including the seismic testing work authorization.

As noted in item three, the LOCA-related Pool Dynamic Loads are being handled as Outstanding Issue No. 9, and the Perry-speelfic information provided in our June 20, 1983 and July 11, 1984 letters is currently under review by the Staff.

PNPP equipment qualification is now based on the presently defined Pool Dynamic Loads. In the event that the load definition is modified and equipment needs to be requalified, we will provide requalification plans within ninety (90) days after receipt of approval of the Final Pool Dynamic Loads.
