Dear Mr. Denton:
i License Condition 12, Operating Staff Experience Requirements, of Facility Operating License NPF-24, and Section 13.1.2.3 of SSER-3 discuss requirements
-for the Catawba Unit 1 Shift Advisor Program. My letter of June 8, 1984.
provided details of the program along with the background and training of.the operators designated as Shift Advisors. This is to certify that the individuals identified in that submittal (G. L. Mitchell, R. Casler, C. D. Craig, H. M.
-Harris, Jr., J. W. Rumfelt, R. W. Mayes, R. N. Patton, and R. A. Lindsay) have been examined and have been determined to be competent to provide advice to the operating shifts.
Furthermore the recommendations of the Utility Advisor Evaluation Team and-the NRC evaluation team which are described in Section 13.1.2.3 of SSER-3, have been implemented.
The Shift Advisors for Catawba Unit I will be re-
-tained until the experience levels identified in License Condition 12 have been achieved. The NRC will be notified at least 30 days prior to the pro-posed release of the advisors from further service.
