Fiedler, GPUN The purpose of this submittal is to provide you with the additional information as requested in your correspondence referenced above. Attached are the addresses of the Ray Miller Branch offices which supplied the potentially fraudulent material, along with the purchase order numbers.

GPUN has developed a standard entitled Verification of Supplier Material Certifications (6100-STD-7207-01). This program entails sampling of materials for verification testing utilizing various material testing methods such as magnetic verification, spot check chemical arialysis, non-destructive testing and spectrographic analysis.

In addition, we are providing you with several mechanisms we have adopted by which we can detect major breakdowns in a supplier's Q. A. program. These mechanisms are:

1)

Our Quality Assurance program requires Quality Control Receipt Inspection ~ of all Important to Safety and Nuclear Safety Related items.

2)

A Supplier Quality Classification List (SQCL) is maintained on vendors that provide Nuclear Safety Related items.

3)

Our Manufacturing Assurance group, whicn maintains the SQCL, is also responsible for performing specified vendor source surveillance during the production and testing process.

During the procurement process, Quality Assurance provides the final review of NSR/ITS Purchase Orders.

Quality Control verifies that each item and its corresponding documentation agrees with the Purchase Order.

6)

Quality Control Receipt Inspection inspects for such attributes as physical damage, cleanliness, coatings and preservatives, workmanship, identification and marking, dimensionals, and welding preparations, as applicable during the inspection process.

7)

" Repairs to pressure boundary systems are made under the program of GPUN Repair Program Manual which has been accepted by ASME authorized inspection agency. This manual requires that purchase orders be placed only with vendors who possess a current and applicable ASME Certificate of Authorization or Quality System Certificate, or who have been approved by QA using as a basis an acceptable in-plant survey.

We believe our current Quality Assurance program verifies the quality of procured Important to Safety items.
