Re: St. Lucie Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-335, 50-389 IE Bulletin 84-02 Florida Power & Light Company has reviewed IE Bulletin 84-02 (Failures of General Electric Type HFA Relays In Use in Class 1E Safety Systems) as it applies to St. Lucie Units 1 and 2.
Action Item 1 requested FPL to develop plans and schedules for replacing (1) nylon or Lexan coil spool-type HFA relays used in normally energized safety related applications and (2) nylon coil spool-type HFA relays used in normally de-energized safety related applications.
For St. Lucie Unit 1 all involved HFA relays were identified and replaced with the new Tefzel series relays. All relays now installed in Unit 2 were manuf actured after January 1979. GE has informed us that relays made after this time period are made with Tefzel spools.
In addition, the site's spare parts specifications have been upgraded and parts on hand were reviewed for proper date codes.
