Consumers Power Company letter dated September 29, 1983 and entitled SEP Topic XV-2 " Spectrum of Steam Piping Failures Inside and Outside Containment (PWR) -
Commitments for Evaluation and Modification," committed to submit by September 1, 1984 a final PRA and Cost-Benefit Analysis on the actual safety signifi-cance of the two-steam generator-blowdown event as well as the most cost-effective modification (if modification is required) to reduce the likelihood of this event. We have been delayed in finalizing this study and request that our commitment date be extended to February 1, 1984. The main reasons for this extension are the difficulties experienced in the running of the new computer codes and the lack of manpower due to the extended refueling outage at the Palisades Plant (from 3 to 11 months).
This delay in providing this final report will not affect the previous commit-ment to replace the MSIV's. Their installation remains on schedule for the Cycle 8 refueling outage currently scheduled for early 1987.
