Dear Mr. Hunter:
This letter provides the final report on a potential 10CFR50.55(e) con-cerning an incorrect differential pressure correction in the Reactor Vessel Level Instrumentation System (RVLIS). This matter was initially reported by Mr. H.K. Chernoff of Kansas Gas and Electric Company (KG&E) to Mr. William McNeil of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region IV, on April 27, 1984. During scaling of the RVLIS, an error was detected in the temperature / differential pressure correction for the RVLIS tubing. This error was caused by a RVLIS tubing modification made by the Architect Engineer (A/E) during construction. The A/E had added an additional vertical rise and drop to the RVLIS tubing, which changed the differential pressure correction for the tubing. To remedy this situation, the input circuitry for the RVLIS into the 7300 process cabinet was reworked to correct the sign of the density correction summing. This corrective action has now been completed and the RVLIS tubing has the proper differential pressure correction.
