SPECIAL REPORT . ,

s Event Description and Cause- ,
A fire detector was made inoperable >when water;for drill ' cooling < dripped onto the detector making it inoperable. Dus drilling is being done to modify the mechanical equipment room,in the auxiliary building to become the new fif th vital battery (125V) room. < The fire detectors in this room are not necessary to be in service at this time due to the occupancy of the room. The detectors are required due to the minimum number of detectors required to be operable as specified in technical'apecifications.
Corrective Action The requirement for an hourly roving fire watch as specified in~ technical specifications is being met. The involved fire detector will be restored to functional status and verified operable after completion of the modifica-tion to install the new 125V vital battery. The roving fire watch will' be maintained until the fire detector is declared operable.
