. providing an implementation date for an upgraded incore thermocouple system.
The upgraded incore thermocouple system will be installed by the completion of the second refueling outage after July,1985, which are presently scheduled in 1987 for both units. The upgraded incore thermocouple system will meet the requirements of Regulatory Guide 1.97 which references NUREG-0737, item II.F.2.
The 1987 refueling outage dates are based upon a twelve month (or longer) procurement lead time and the work to be accomplished such as engineering, equipment specifications and system walkdowns prior to issuance of the purchase order for the incore thermocouple system.
Presently, the next refueling outages are scheduled for December, 1985 and February, 1986 for Units 1 and 2, respectively, and are not compatible with the required engineering and procurement schedules.
Vepco's intent is to complete presently identified Regulatory Guide 1.97 modifications prior to or during the 1986 refueling outages with the incore thermocouple system being installed in the 1987 refueling outages.
